Overview

The UC Irvine School of Medicine's Department of Neurology strives to provide a rich educational environment for our medical students. Our 25 full-time teaching faculty members are highly-experienced clinicians who are committed to our students’ success. The department offers educational opportunities through its clerkship, residency and grand rounds programs.

Our month-long clerkship program gives medical students a strong background in the fundamentals of neurology, including learning how to examine, diagnose and treat neurology patients.

Our fully accredited three-year residency program offers expertise and training in all neurological subspecialties at UC Irvine Medical Center and VA Long Beach Healthcare System.

We also maintain a full calendar of weekly grand rounds lectures given by UC Irvine faculty as well as visiting clinicians and researchers from all over the world who specialize in the field of neurology.

The opening of the UC Irvine Douglas Hospital in early 2009 has added state-of-the art units for epilepsy monitoring and neuro-intensive care.
