Overview

UC Irvine Department of Neurology strives to provide a rich educational environment for our medical students. Our 25 full-time teaching faculty members are highly-experienced clinicians committed to our students’ success. The department offers educational opportunities through its clerkship, residency and grand rounds programs.

Our month-long clerkship gives medical students a strong background in the fundamentals of neurology, including how to examine, diagnose and treat neurology patients. Our fully accredited three-year residency program provides residents with expertise and training in all neurological subspecialties and utilizes the facilities of UC Irvine Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Long Beach (VAMCLB). We also maintain a full calendar of weekly Grand Rounds lectures given by UC Irvine faculty as well as visiting clinicians and researchers from all over the world who specialize in the field of neurology.

With the opening of the University Hospital in early 2009, we have more beds in neurology and new areas for epilepsy monitoring and neuro-intensive care.
