9th Annual Neuromuscular Colloquium
Event description:
The UCI School of Medicine 2019 Neuromuscular Colloquium provides an academic forum for regional and national physicians who specialize entirely or to a significant degree in neuromuscular medicine.
This colloquium is designed to encourage an atmosphere of collaboration and interaction between the various neuromuscular specialists in the US, Canada and internationally. It is a forum to discuss the latest topics and advances in neuromuscular medicine and review interesting and challenging cases, with several live patient presentations. Such activities are aimed to improve patient care by promoting closer research collaboration and the development of new research projects between the various groups and institutions.

Time: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Registration information
Registration fees, which include breakfast and lunch, are:
- $75 — Physicians
- $50 — Nurses and all other allied healthcare professionals
- $25 — UCI nurses
- Complimentary — UCI faculty, students, residents and fellows
Learning objectives
After completing the learning activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify different clinical presentations and patterns of involvement in neuromuscular diseases.
- Describe current diagnostic and management strategies in rare and orphan neuromuscular diseases.
- Recognize the potential systemic complications in these disorders.
- Understand current standards and guidelines for the management of neuromuscular disorders.
- Identify the features of oculoparetic Myasthenia Gravis.
- Identify current and emerging therapies in autoimmune neuromuscular diseases including Myasthenia Gravis, immune-mediated neuropathies and myopathies.
- Identify features helpful in distinguishing acquired myopathies from inherited myopathies.
- Identify features on muscle pathology that help distinguish distinct subtypes of inflammatory muscle diseases.

The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology has reviewed the 9th annual Neuromuscular Colloquium and has approved this program as part of a comprehensive educational program, which is mandated by the American Board of Medical Specialties as a necessary component of maintenance of certification.
